I really, really like the working-titles for Rich's new songs...especially "formaline." (Yeah, yeah, I'm a word person...you have to expect this...) But I have NO idea what it will mean...I was like...formaline...sounds chemical...but it also sounds like form-a-line...as in what we are constantly asked to do while we wait for this or that...
So I poked around a bit--and formaline IS a chemical...it's a combination of formaldahyde and some other stuff (depending on what it's being used for)--and it's used as a preservative (like when you want to preserve a snake carcass--which is an example I stumbled on--very cool)...and other things, too...something having to do with a fish tank...
Lots of cool possibilties with that one...yeah...
*wanders off...wondering now about "plume"...

It may be morbid but it's got more than one meaning, at least in the way you can connotively define it. Which is just cool cause it makes you think and it just sounds cool. But then I love to play word games. *needs to bust out some dictionary action sometime*

the solution of 40% Formaldehyde and 60% water is called Formaline
we use it in our dishwashing liquids,it's anti-bacterial and it's toxic now we usually use methyl tyazolinon

This thread reminds me of the human bat episode of The X-Files with Robert Patrick.

I've just been to a lecture at London's beautiful Natural History Museum. It's one of my FAVE places to visit!
Anyway, their new gallery - The Darwin Centre - houses their collection of "pickled animals". Thousands and thousands of them... I'm browsing thru - feeling more than a touch queasy - and what do i spy?
A bottle with a HUGE bright orange sticker on it with big black letters saying "FORMALINE"!!!
I nearly fell off my feet laughing!
;D
...
(The lecture itself was REALLY interesting - it was the science (or lack of it!) behind Jurassic Park and how/why DNA extraction/resequencing, cloning and producing a viable breeding population of any extinct species would be nigh on impossible! All good stuff for a Tuesday night!)

Please! Enough chemistry! I've got an exam on it tommorrow!
I do agree, it sounds very intruiging. Alot of the titles are quite strange.... "Gerbil" comes to mind (as do hamsters).
In addition to the comment made about The X Files.... yeah, but the bat wasn't dead, not really. Regurgitated fingers! I know what I'm having for dinner!
