man, i'm so fuckin' stoked...my guitarist found us a drummer, so we're gonna record him next month, when we start to finish our cd....anyhow, why i'm so stoked is i'm gonna try Led Zepplin's method of recording drums, which was on a hard wood floor with careful mic placement....and it just so happens that the room that we record in has a hardwood floor, which makes me a happy camper.
later,
wark

Which raises a good point....
I hate people who say "Oh you MUST use this mic for this, and you MUST use this mic for that!"
Music - and recording - to MY ears is about getting a good sound, if a relatively cheap 'n' cheerful mic (or mic set) placed with careful thought and consideration gives you a sound you like, then that's the right mic for the job...
Sure, everybody'd LOVE to use industry standard mics, compressors and EQ's on our recordings, but NOTHING can compare to good Old Fashioned careful mic placement first and foremost. Sometimes people rely all too heavily - due to time/money constraints and convenience - on making things sound good with EQ's AFTERWARDS when what we SHOULD be doing is taking more time to LISTEN to the instrument as it is and then - using those two flappy things stuck to the sides of our heads - locate the nicest spot around the instrument to place the mic(s)... and record that!
Old story: Tain't watcha got, tis what ya dooooo with it!!!

but at the same time, there's no point in having the $2,000 guitar and playing it through the cheap $50 amp.
