I ordered the last of the parts I need for my Filter-ish guitar. It's a lot like the ones Rich was playing on the TOR tour and recorded Amalgamut with. If anyone one is interested, I am considering building them for sale. This one is from Mighty Mite and Warmoth parts (www.warmoth.com). But I think to keep things simple, all future "Filtercasters" will be made of 100% Fender parts. Prices will start around $400-$800 on up (depending on how custom you want it). Order to build time will be about 2-3 weeks (depending on order load) and shipping will be USPS 2-3 day priority. Craftsmanship will be ATLEAST the quality of any factory Fender guitars- if not better. I will not sell a guitar for any less quality. Guitar image projection Guitar currently in progress [5MAY2003] The one I'm building, (the one on the bottom), has these parts: Body: 3-piece solid north american heavy ash (Mighty Mite) Neck: MIM Fender "70s Style" neck with large CBS headstock & logo with bullet trussrod. Tuners: American standard Fender Schaller sealed and greased tuners Bridge:American made vintage spacing hardtail bridge Electronics: Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader (the SH-8 was used for the Amalgamut recordings); MIM Tele neck pickup---All controlled with CTS pots and 5-way switch (Bridge/Bridge-tapped/bridge-neck/neck/kill)...kill switch is for rythmic gating effects. Pickguard is a silver pearl (see below) instead of the white pearl like the concept image above: I'll have finished photos up this weekend I hope- and I'll be able to let you all hear what it sounds like by next week or so.

Well, my production cycle is based off of demand. If I get 3 orders at once, I can get all 3 guitars done around the same time as if I got one order. The biggest factor that makes a 3-week-ish cycle is ordering the parts. Having thousands of dollars of guitar parts just laying around isn't exactly something I can do as much as I would like to.

Is there any way that instead of Duncans one could get DiMarzio's?
I forget the names of all of these fuckers, but they jsut came out with a humbucker that is designed for guitars that play primarily in dropped D, and it sounds way stanky.

Yeah actually I could do any pickups...In fact I can do any combination of this kind of guitar. Just let me know exactly what you want.

...I am very interested but was wondering how you would do international deals... Plus .... Would it be ridiculously more in Australian dollars?...Apart from that the idea sounds tops...My old guitar is looking kind of sad anyway... LJC

Here is United States Postal Service rates to Australia: ircalc.usps.gov/speed.asp?Country=Australia&Pounds=30&Ounces=0&cmdSubmit=Continue&Contents=1The guitar & packaging should weigh less than 30lbs so I shot way high just to give you a rough idea. So, in Aussie dollars shipping should be $150-$235 for 3-5 day global air express. Now, that's shipping it fast and assuming the packaging is really heavy. As for final price in Aussie dollars, it will be in the ball park of $1000-$1200. It really depends on what kind of options you want on it. (That's about $600-$800 US). It's a lot of money, but it's for a nice guitar. I will say that anyone who orders one can try it out and if they don't like it- they can send it back. -FILTERED

Well, any American Fender Jazz or Jazz deluxe will get you the Frank/Filter bass tone. Unless you want to throw down for a $1300 Washburn B-13.

Not that it's a terribly uncanny combination, but there just aren't enough me's out there. ANd you mean to say that you'd build the bass? Or do you suggest that one buys their own?

I know nobody who plays the bass and listens to Filter... *puts paw in air*I do!! and... (The top bass is my beloved Fender Precision Lyte, the bottom one's a relatively Cheap-'n'-Cheerful semi that I use for practising with! I've got another jazz bass lurking around somewhere, so I've got THREE of the pesky little blighters...)
