Have you got audio inputs on your sound card?
Got anything like Cool Edit or another "sound" application?

well first off, lets start with VHS....if the VCR you wish to reord from is mono, then you'll need a mono rca to 1/8th inch cable, if it's stero you'll need a stero to 1/8th inch cable. hook up the 1/8in plug into the mic or line in on your sound card, and make sure you have recording software...yeah, like Cool Edit, or Sound Forge.
now for cassette transfer....this all depends on what kind of cassette deck you're running and you soundcard aswell....being some standalone cassette decks have optical outs and some higher end soundcards have opical ins, if you have a set up like that, that's what i'd recommend...............BUT, if you only own a bookshelf style CD/Cassette player, here's a simple way you can do it, take a stero 1/8inch to 1/8inch stero cable, and plug one end into the headphone jack on your stero, and plug the other end to either your soundcard mic jack, or it's input jack.
later,
