**peeks in** Well... even though I've finally registered and am now an official "Butt Clown" (can I put that on my resume?) I'm still kind of a lurker... but I did my Newbie duty and visited the Mangina thread aka The Thread That Will Not Die... Anyway, I'm still skulking in and out. Unfortunately, 'real life' is demanding most of my attention because I have to study for these horrid tests regarding insurance laws and regulations. During the day, I work for a life insurance underwriting company (we're the guys that decide whether or not to approve, approve-other-than-applied-for or decline your application for individual insurance. Tres exciting, let me tell you, no sarcasm whatsoever. Really. I mean that.... **tries to type with straight face**) But am really liking this board... the flaming that is prominent at other MBs is not tolerated at all in this MB which is a breath of fresh air to me Like I've complained about in other threads, I live in Des Moines... which really isn't that bad of a place, but my one complaint is the music scene. Granted, Chevelles and Staind are coming later this summer and for better or worse we are the birth place of Slipknot (not a huge Slipknot fan but really like Stone Sour) but for the most part, we're a musical desert. Which for me is frustrating because I am a concert fiend. I usually end up migrating to Minneapolis, Kansas City, Chicago, Omaha.... and even to Atlanta once for concerts. Which is how I wound up at this board. About wore out Short Bus and Title of Record and was wondering if Filter had done anything new lately and did a search online for anything having to do with Filter and found the official site and this place. The radio stations here hardly ever play anything other than Corporate Approved aka Advertiser Friendly Music, which means I'll get to hear "Hey Man Nice Shot" on the radio once in a blue moon. I didn't know "The Amalgamut" existed until a few weeks ago when I did my search for Filter online (but I swear I did not download any mp3s.... mostly because I'm not smart enough to figure out how...) Needless to say, I've remedied my Amalgamut-less state and now it will be one of the CDs they will have to pry out of my cold dead hands... Am having trouble thinking about interesting things about self to reveal and yet will not encourage stalkers to come visit I'm a writer but I don't do the starving-artist thing well so I like I said previously, I work at a small insurance company full time but also as a housekeeper part-time (Glamourous, don't you think?) Love to read, will read most anything except trashy romance novels. Hate television, esp. reality shows. Haven't really watched TV since the X-Files Series Finale... oh yeah, huge X-Files fan (so that means I'm also a Robert Patrick fan as well as a Richard Patrick fan) Am a bit of a sci-fi/fantasy geek (shock, surprise, dismay) .... Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, Harry Potter, etc etc etc.... Love movies, love adore worship music. Can't sing a note or play a instrument so I just enjoy being the audience Tastes are all over the board from classical pieces to loud angry rock to bluegrass to Celtic to rap to alternative so on and so forth... but the artists I must see in concert before I die are Filter (again, another shocker) Dave Matthews Band, Tori Amos, Eminem (I know there's a special place in hell reserved for me for that one, but oh well) and Saliva. Want to see Chevelles and Staind when they come to town but must see if Mr. Check Book will allow me to go.... I'm staring thirty right in the face, which honestly, doesn't depress me as much as I thought it would when I was younger. Kind of like the whole-independent-adult thing And am also an insomniac who finally noticed what time it is and realizes that I have to get up early for work... grrrr... stupid work. Anyway - hope to post more when my evil tests are completed and have more time to play. And I hope I didn't bore everyone too much Later everyone

Nah, ya didn't bore no one.
As for the Music Desert. . .welcome to my humble small city in Southwest Minnesota..Home of the "Better Music Machine" aka KKCK aka Krap Krap C Krap. I swear to god I was going to hunt down AND MAIM then KILL J.Lo. Nelly and a few others for awhile. Imagine, ON the hour EVERY hour "I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block, I used to have a little now i have a lot" backed up by "It's getting hot in herre, so take off all your clothes.." NON stop..and let's not forget the blessed KK Replay. ..ARRRRRRGH. Then there is also the account that NO bands worth mentioning play here so yeah. ..music wasteland.
You write? That's cool. I'm a writer myself. I should be doing that right now but I'm not cause I'm lazy and kinda in a dry spell. I'm in college for writing actually.
And, much like you, I am an X-File fan. Have every episode on tape from start to finish, too. Can't afford mister DVDs.

Yes I can imagine the horrors because we have KISS FM... a tale of such sadness for it used to be "The Dot", a kick ass independant alternative radio station... then Big Corporate Radio moved in, bought out the Dot and made it into KISS, home of the sugary confection that's sending the music industry into a diabetic coma... Sorry... I'm ranting... That's cool you're studying writing - What kind of writing do you do?

Aha, yes. I knew there was a part of the board I wasn't visiting.
Better late than never, eh?
I am lennix, or lnx, or simply "L" or "J" if I know you.
I recently celebrated one year of being registered (For the third time, I believe). i've been around the FDG for a few years, although admittedly not overly active. I was, for most of last year, on the top posters list, but no more...that's what comes of you when you don't feel the cumpulsion to respond to every possible thread.
Not a slight on those of you more active, mind you. Just an explaination. Mainly because most of those ahead of me on the list can kick my ass. ::ducks::
Also in the pissing contest, I was the guy who tipped FILTERED off on the sound clips posted on the UBL back when TOR came out. Not that it really matters, but I find that some people actually take these things into account, so I say it. There. Done.
I'm 21, a theatre director, and live in Washington DC. Been a fan since whenever Trip Like I Do was on MTV.
Umm...anything else?

Ah yes, stage managers...the only reason any play actually gets done. so far; Fantasticks, Biloxi Blues, Art, Twelve Angry Men, and Tableus (original). I think that's it..

Oooh my turn *ahem* My name is Jamie (although most call me J.C) i'm 16 (as of the 27th of June) although i apparently look 30...im not sure if thats a compliment or an insult... I'm into totally surreal forms of humor (note the Ron Silver avatar ) so i can be kinda...out there...sometimes I'm also a HUGE fan of Filter, have been for a LONG time...im a writer so i enjoy music that has enough going on to keep me from getting bored, but isn't too harsh on the ear so that it knocks you out of 'the zone'...thusly im a fan of Filter, The Cult, Aerosmith (im obsessed with Aerosmith...) Guns N Roses, Bran Van 3k, Semisonic, Porcupine Tree, Black Flag (im a punk...heh) Rollins in general, Metallica (old...i detest St Anger ) and Fluke...quite a wide variety... Im from Norwich in England...its full of tractors, people with half-cast mullets, and the phrase 'ooo arrrr'....thats the only way to describe it.... What else...oh, i LOVE the colour blue...pretty much everything i wear is...blue...including my hair My favourite movie is They Live! (staring the awesome Roddy Piper... ) and...err...no thats about it... oh wait...i'll be studying my GCSE Psychology in College come september, but this time next year ill be transferring up to Crichton College in Glasgow to study a couple of other subjects to help me with the writing career And that...is me....
